A police officer in West Long Branch, New Jersey, saved an 11-year-old boy after he fell through the ice on a partially frozen lake on Monday, February 3.Bodycam footage from the West Long Branch Police Department shows officer Dave Brosonski walking through the thin ice on Franklin Lake to help the child stranded in the water, which was estimated to be about 35 degrees Fahrenheit.According to information from local emergency services, the lake was shallow enough for both Brosonski and the child to stand, but cold temperatures meant the boy could not free himself.Luckily for the child, Brosonski is trained in water rescue, and quickly helped him to safety.Local news reported that police were alerted by a local resident, who spotted the boy in trouble. The child had been using the lake as a shortcut home when he fell through the ice, emergency services said.The boy was uninjured but taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to reports.
