Florida police rescued an elderly couple from their home in the early hours of Friday, September 27, after
widespread flooding hit Siesta Key.Video released by the Sarasota Police Department shows officers persuading the couple to leave the home before carrying the woman out of the house in a chair.Police
said the couple’s granddaughter had called 911, concerned for her grandparents, who were trapped on the second floor of their home during the storm. Officers learned that the man relied on oxygen, and that his supply was running out.“There’s no power, you can’t stay here,” an officer could be heard telling the couple before they agreed to leave.The couple was “transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for further care and reunited with their family,” police said.
