A police officer rescued a paralyzed man from a burning home in Polo, Illinois, on December 17, bodycam footage released by police showed.Kaden Coppotelli, who told local media he had only joined the Polo Police Department five months prior, was first on scene and rushed through to the backyard of the burning home after finding the front door locked.It was here that he found David Pommerening struggling to speak as a fire can be seen burning inside. Coppotelli is seen attempting to use a fire extinguisher on the flames, but it doesn’t trigger.It is at this point the officer takes matters into his own hands. “Let me carry you,” he says to Pommerening. “I’m going to carry you,” Coppotelli says before carrying the man across the yard away from the burning home.WIFR reported that the home was “a complete loss,” and that Pommerening and his wife lost several pets in the fire.
