Crowds rallied in the courtyard of the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza, as freed Palestinian prisoners were taken there on Thursday, January 30.Footage posted by Quds News Network shows a Red Cross vehicle surrounded by people cheering and filming. Prisoners exiting the vehicle are instantly surrounded by people and hugged, as authorities escort them inside the hospital.Omer Dostri, the spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said the PM and Defense Minister Israel Katz had ordered a delay in the planned release of Palestinian prisoners “until the safe exit of our hostages is guaranteed.”Netanyahu criticized what he described as “shocking scenes” during the release of Israeli hostages into crowds of people in Gaza on Thursday.The 110 Palestinian prisoners, all men, were released later on Thursday, according to an AP report.Most of the freed prisoners were taken to Ramallah, in the West Bank, while 9 arrived in Gaza, according to Al Jazeera.
