Heavy snow was falling over most of Iowa on Wednesday, February 12, with rates of up to one inch per hour during the afternoon in southern parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).This footage, posted by the NWS just before 2 pm, shows conditions at its office in Johnston, north of Des Moines. Visibility in the area was reduced to around a half-mile, the weather service said.The Iowa Highway Patrol warned motorists of icy roads and reduced visibility throughout the state, and said it had responded to 54 crashes between 12 am and 12 pm.The snow was expected to continue into the evening.
