Valle Crucis, North Carolina, was a winter wonderland on Thursday, January 16, even though it had been a week since a winter storm hit the state.X user John Downs posted a compilation of videos on Thursday morning showing that snow was still on the ground around Valle Crucis, near the Watauga River.“Today marks 7 days with snow on the ground from the same storm,” Downs wrote on X. “Normally here in the valleys, snow doesn’t last this long.”Data from the National Weather Service shows that on Thursday morning, there was about three inches of snow in Foscoe, North Carolina, just four miles away from Valle Crucis.A wind advisory was in place for northwest North Carolina for Thursday evening, according to the NWS, with gusts up to 38 mph possible.
