Extraordinary footage showed two NASA astronauts as they completed X-ray telescope repairs outside the International Space Station on Thursday, January 16.NASA livestreamed the spacewalk, which began at 8 am ET and concluded at about 2 pm.This footage released by the International Space Station showed astronaut Suni Williams as she began to replace hardware that “helps maintain station orientation.”Further video from astronaut Nick Hague’s helmet captured the NICER X-ray telescope with its 56 X-ray connectors.Another shot from Williams showed her turning bolts as she replaced the planar reflector, with the southern Pacific Ocean seen in the background.The spacewalk was the eighth for Williams, the fourth for Hague, and the 273rd “in support of space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades,” according to NASA.Williams has been in space since June 5, 2024.
