In a rescue mission straight out of a movie, a warthog on the loose named Mateo was found still within the grounds of Florida’s Jacksonville Zoo on December 6, with a thermal drone proving crucial to search efforts.Officers received the unusual call after Mateo went missing on the zoo’s grounds. Officer Sam Ho of JSO’s Unmanned Aerial Systems unit used the drone’s heat-detecting capabilities and located Mateo in a dense palmetto thicket.Guided by the drone’s visuals, the search crew was directed to Mateo’s exact location and successfully captured him.
