Weather warnings were in effect for areas of northwestern Washington as gusty winds blew through the region on Tuesday, February 25, downing
trees and causing
power outages.According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a 52 mph wind gust
was recorded at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport on Tuesday morning, nearing a record set in 2008.Security footage at the home of Mark DeLoura captured a gust of wind dragging his covered outdoor furniture and scattering it around his yard early Tuesday morning. He said the bubble structure had been in place for five years and was heavily weighed down.“There was a tall arch trellis there where it wound up, for growing beans and peas and tomatoes: now wiped out,” DeLoura wrote on social media. “I think at least ten feet of it pulled out of the ground.”A
high-wind warning would remain in effect for Seattle until 10 am, the NWS said.As of 7 am on Tuesday, more than 150,000 customers were without power, according to
outage trackers. Credit: Mark DeLoura via Storyful
