Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was arrested in Caracas on January 9, a day before President Nicolas Maduro was due to be sworn in for a new term, after emerging from
hiding to take part in
protests, her party has said.Footage filmed by Luis Gerardo Bravo Canate prior the arrest shows Machado alongside protesters in the Chacao area of Caracas.The protests follow a disputed July election in which both Maduro and the opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez claimed victory.After leaving the demonstration, motorcycles transporting Machado “were violently intercepted” and fired upon, Machado’s party
said. Her team
told CNN that “at least eight security agents were involved in the incident.”In posts online, Gonzalez
demanded the immediate release of Machado, saying she had been “kidnapped her” by security forces.The United States
