Climate protesters disrupted a talk that Bill Gates was giving at George Washington University, in Washington, DC, on the evening of February 5, shouting “Bill Gates is not a climate hero.”Footage posted by Climate Defiance shows a group of protesters interrupting Bill Gates’ talk, with one of them shouting “the top 1 percent emit more than the bottom 50 percent worldwide. Billionaires are the problem.”“Fossil fuel powered AI is destroying our planet, we cannot afford it,” the protester also shouts in the video.The protesters were later removed by authorities.Gates was at George Washington University to discuss his new memoir, Source Code, with journalist Savannah Guthrie, according to the event’s description.The Microsoft cofounder recently made news for criticizing Elon Musk’s recommendation that the Trump administration shutter the USAID program.
