Strong winds forced sand from Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach up to its promenade, forcing the closure of areas on Saturday, January 18.Footage filmed by Daniel Wilkinson shows the promenade covered in sand, mountains of sand piling up in the area, and authorities working to remove it.Wilkinson told Storyful that “several days of 70km/hr+ gale force winds” forced the closure of the beach and its carpark.“I called it “Snow Day” as a joke, but it’s all sand and just looks like snow,” Wilkinson said, adding that he “lived here for 8+ years and this has never happened.”News reports said that damaging winds had been hitting the area, knocking down trees and impacting transport.
