A satellite captured images of Hurricane Helene churning in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday morning, September 26, before its expected landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region later that day.This timelapse video was posted by the Colorado-based Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) and depicts a period of about an hour, from 6:48 am to 7:52 am CDT, on Thursday morning, according to timestamps on the video.Helene strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane that morning, packing maximum sustained winds of 105 mph (165 km/h), according to weather officials.
