A crowd that included family members and friends of individuals imprisoned for their roles in the January 6 Capitol riot gathered outside the DC Central Detention Facility on Monday, January 20, awaiting the release of their loved ones.On the same day, President Donald Trump signed an executive order pardoning many of the 1,500 people charged in connection with the attack on the US Capitol.The group waiting outside the prison included Micki Witthoeft, the mother of Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who was fatally shot by a US Capitol Police officer.Despite the broad granting of clemency by Trump, only two brothers, Andrew and Matthew Valentin - who were sentenced just days ago - walked free on Monday, The New York Times reported citing Paul Ingrassia, the newly appointed White House liaison to the Justice Department.Footage filmed by X user @SatireAp showed the crowd at the facility.
