The National Weather Service (NWS) predicted “historic snowfall” as southeast Texas was hit by a winter storm on Tuesday, January 21.Video filmed by X user @Wx_PrestonC in the early hours on Tuesday showed the beginning of the storm, with snow coming down hard on a portion of Texas Highway 249, just north of Houston.By 10 am local time on January 21, the NWS estimated that Houston had received between three and four inches of snow.The Houston District of the Texas Department of Transportation reported that many highways and roadways had been “impacted by snow cover and ice.”In another post, the agency urged people to stay off the roads.“We strongly discourage any travel by the general public,” the agency wrote on X. “Conditions are not safe!” Credit: @Wx_PrestonC via Storyful
