Dogs 'Sing' Along to Rarely Performed 'Hunting Symphony' in Danish Music Festival

Three dogs joined an orchestra to “sing” along to a quirky symphony by Mozart’s father during a performance in Denmark on Sunday, September 3.Footage from Danmarks Underholdningsorkester, the Danish Chamber Orchestra, shows the three dogs that were chosen for the performance — Cookie, Sophus, and Sica — barking along to Leopold Mozart’s Hunting Symphony. The three dogs went through months of training after dog auditions were held in the spring, the BBC reported. The Danish Chamber Orchestra said that the conductor, Adam Fischer, has “long wanted” to incorporate dogs into a performance. “We believe that boring music must be eradicated, and I hope that with our festival we can inspire audiences in completely new ways. We want to show how dramatic, lively, emotional, and magnificent music is,” Fischer was quoted saying in the spring. The Leopold Mozart work, which was written with parts for dogs, was included in the Haydn festival because the elder Mozart was a pupil of Haydn’s, according to organizers.
