Wisconsin Sheriff's Deputy Rescues Dog From Burning Apartment

Body-worn camera footage shows a Wisconsin sheriff’s deputy racing into an apartment building that caught fire on August 31 and rescuing a dog stuck inside.According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jason Bruggink was on patrol when he heard fire rescue dispatched to a structure fire on Ledgewood Drive. Bruggink knew he was the closest emergency responder and self-dispatched, grabbing a fire extinguisher and running toward the fiery apartment. As two other deputies arrived on scene, Bruggink made a second entry into the apartment in attempt to extinguish the fire, which by then had spread to the attic. While inside, he found a dog and carried the dog outside to its owner. The Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue administration told the sheriff’s office that “had Deputy Bruggink not arrived so quickly and worked to set the fire back, the fire likely would have spread and destroyed a much more significant portion of the apartment structure.” Credit: Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
